Adoption

Helping families come together and form legally recognized parent-child relationships is always a joyous moment and we are delighted to be a part of it.

There are several types of adoptions in Colorado; for example, there are kinship, stepparent and second parent adoptions.

Second parent adoptions are relatively new to Colorado.  If a child only has one legal parent, that child may qualify for a second parent adoption.  The person who is seeking to adopt the child does not need to be married to the other parent.  Children significantly benefit from having two legally recognized parents and we are glad that this process is now offered in Colorado.

Making the decision to adopt a child should not be taken lightly as there are rights and obligations associated with becoming a legal parent of a child.  If you are ready to adopt a child, we'll help navigate you through the legal system as well as to understand your rights and obligations.  The adoption process may seem arduous at times, but it is well worth it in the end.
